Default Building your head.

I was wondering if you guys could tell me if you need to build your head when building your bottom end? Or will the stock head be fine. I know that if I build it I could rev higher and what not, but lets say I just wanna rev to 7500 in my LS. If im pushing 400+ whp, is there any problems that I will come across on a stock head. A friend of mine who thinks he knows all, told me that i will get valve float and my head will break within 2 months after I put that kind of power down.

I wanna know whether this is or correct or not. Thanks guys

The head off a Ls is limiting your power big time

I know it will limit the power, but will it break or have valve float with that much power?

Why build your head? My friend Justin just ran a 12.5 at RMR last weekend with a completely stock LS motor (never had the head off) and it's only dynoed at 250 whp. 400 hp is cool, but what do you want to do with the car?

Oh, and you'd be better off to go LS/VTEC than to try and build the LS head. It would be cheaper in the long run and produce plenty of power even stock.

If you decide to build the LS head you won't need to worry about valve float if you have proper valve springs installed and Ti retainers. 7500RPM is reasonable on a LS if you have cams that will put power out that high (there are cams that support that power).

I would throw that ls head in the trash, start of with something decent. Start from that and work your way up.
