A little tip, if you unbolt the topnut of the strut while the car is on the ground all you will need to do is lift the car and the spring will be decompressed and not hav any stored energy,no compressor needed.

I am curious to know what you found. I have a Sears spring compressor and its really HD but it is difficult to get between Honda spring coils. A strap type might be better for me.

Thanks,
alan

I would like to know as well, and I'll bet that a ton of other people would too. Even if you have answered your own question, you should always make it a point to post your findings and complete your thread. That way other people will have a much easier time using the "search" feature, and benifite from your research...

I myself is suprise that other people want to know about it, the reason I didn't want to mention it is because its a $400 tool.

i got one that has sort of screw in type loops that go around the coil.. it's much better than the convential hooked one because as stated before, space is limited when working with honda springs.

I wish I'd seen that harbor-freight compressor a week ago. I didn't think that honda put such tall springs on an ED3's front, pre-loaded 50%. The job defined the word 'bitch'. The H-F one almost looks better than that strap-based compressor. Dollar-wise its no contest.

that strap compressor looks like you could do the same thing with a set of the ratcheting tie down straps like you see on trailers all the time.
