I just got this car and since the spedometer didnt work when I bought it, does that mean that the odometer hasn't been working also? Could this car actually have different mileage then the odometer says? Thanks.

 

oh yes the actual mileage stopped when speedo stopped.

 

Check to make sure the speed sensor is good. I believe its ontop of the transmission.

 

by the way if you've got no cel most likely speedo head. could be wiring but doubtful unless wrecked. still doubtful.

... my speedo was acting up... bouncing like crazy... i thought it was my cluster since i had no cel so i was kinda mad... so just for kicks i punched it to see if vtec still worked... cause if the speed sensor was good and the cluster was bad vtec would still engage... well it revved to 4800 and wouldnt do anything more... so i pulled the vss and it had water in the connector... dried it out popped it back in and all was well

 

speed sensor would throw a cell and make your car run like ****, check all your hookups in the back of the dash.

 

yeah, alos if your car has vtec, it wouldn't be engaging it its not working. I had this on my car and it threw a code 17 (obd 1) which is VSS sensor

wrongo... it wont always throw a code as in my case... and the vss has nothing to do with how the car runs... so it will run fine... unless you have vtec then it wont engage
