Default GSR motor in 97 EK Problem HELP!!!

I recently encountered and problem with my motor. Everytime I reached 4500 RPM the motor BOGGS and LAGS....Will not pull anymore...Feels like its stressing...I checked the timing and its fine...What can it be? Has anyone had this problem before? Please help with any ideas on this issue.

are you throwing a CEL? when was the last time you did an oil change?, it can be that your oil level is getting quite low for the vtec pressure sensor to activate the solenoid. well this is what happened w/ my B16, and also maybe it might be the vtec engagement set at an earlier rpm than stock.. maybe set it higher at 5500 or something.. just a thought.

I just replace the Plugs and wires brand new....And No, I'm not throwing any CELs....When going at high speed on the freeway around 80, if I floor the throttle, it will not pick up quickly, it will just slowly pick up in speed. Its lagging...My swap is bone stock, No ECU modification at all.....

have you checked for any intake leaks? try a leak down test. is everything wired correctly from the swap?

A leak down test will only tell you if you have a compression leak. Considering the circumstances that would be one of the last things that I would expect at this point in time.

When it bogs down does it backfire? Does it seem to run the way it should at low rpm and then act as if it was kicked in the nuts all of a sudden? Go to autozone and buy a vacuum gauge and then check your manifold vacuum. At idle it should be between 18 and 22 inches of mercury. If it is low you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere. It the needle bounce around alot (i.e. jumps quickly between a large amount of numbers, not just one or two) you have a mechanical problem in the engine.

The swap was perfect......Everything was done professionally when the swap was completed....It ran fine with no problems at all.....All of a sudden I started to notice this lagging/bogging issue....And NO, it does not backfire when its bogging...It runs fine when you're below 4500 RPM, as soon as you pass this, then it laggs....It look like it might be the VTEC solenoid but still not sure yet....

Change your fuel filter, if it's not that, you'll likely notice a little more power when you do solve your problem anyway.

have you taken off the vtec solenoid and check if its clogged? Take it off and clean it out, see if it changes anything. Maybe somehow something to do with your secondaries?

He said it perfect here
Distributor= from what you have said it sounds like it is going bad. If you have a friend with the same distributor as yours obd1 or obd2 just swap themout real quick wont take longer than five mins and see if it fixes the problem. Process of elimination is what I always do.
