EK Chassis car with B18B swap 1997 Honda Civic EX
Wondering what ECU I should be running on a Honda Civic EX with a B18B LS motor swap. Ive got the motor installed and borrowed my friends OBD1 Conversion harness to start the car but would like to know what OBD2 ECU I should be running.
I heard a ECU from either a 99-01 Integra LS or a 96-98 Civic DX OBD2a will work. Another issue will I need to deal with the antitheft starter kill feature in the newer ECU's since my car doesnt have it.

What year is the motor? What plans do you have for the future?
It would be just as easy to use a conversion harness and use the OBD1 P74/P75 ECU.
I would stay away from the Civic DX ECU. Unless the motor is 99-01 I wouldn't use that ECU either because its OBD2b. I think the 96-98 or 96-97 Integras were OBD2a.

YOu should be running a 96-98 ls computer homie.........you said you have a 97 civic right? 99 wouldn't plug in......
You should be using a 96-99 integra ecu if all your obd2 stuff is hooked up if all the extra sensors aren't hooked up get a coneversion harness and get a 94-95 ls ecu.

Why not? A 99 Teg ECU shares the same ECU pin layout. 2000 is when Acura decided to go OBD2b.

What year is the motor? If if it is an OBD1 motor, you'll need an OBD1 ECU, you'll have to re-wire the dizzy harness also. I have an OBD1 LS motor in my 96 coupe. I have a PR4 ECU which is an early OBD1 ECU, I believe that there are p75 that are OBD1 also.

Ok Im happy to hear I dont have to mess with the antitheft feature.
As for the ECU the engine is indeed a OBD1 Motor would I have problems running a OBD2 ECU? IF so what things will I need to change to make things good to go. If possible what is the breakdown of things I will need to change out minus shoehorning the engine into the engine bay.

so you have an obd-1 motor and and obd-2 car.... obd-1 ecu is the only way to go for that ls swap.. Obd-2 ecus are programmed for many various differnt sensors and emissions crap.. One big problem will be the engine knock sensor wont work because there is no pin out for it on the obd-2 ecu, they us a differnt set up.. your cheapest best route to go is get a p28 ecu or another obd-1 ecu and get a skunk2 or hasport, or what ever brands obd-2a to obd-1 conversion harness..there will be less headaches, and if the time ever comes, its a whole lot cheper to reflash the obd-1 ecu, or anyother ecu upgrades that would possibly lie in your future, hope this helps
