Default K-series: ERL Performance Inc.'s K24 Superdeck blocks, 89mm & 90mm

These are ERL Performance Inc.'s K24 Superdeck blocks in 89mm and 90mm bores. They are brand new blocks from Honda with zero miles on them. Darton sleeves are used exclusively by ERL and installed in a very unique approach that integrates their "Superdeck" in a patent-pending process.

According to ERL, this is not what appears to be an ordinary block guard. It is CNC precision machined and located with registers on the Darton sleeves and the block itself. This piece requires an intensive machining procedure that has been perfected by ERL to accomodate the different rates of thermal expansion between the two dissimilar materials, ductile iron and aluminum.

The final result is a 0.003" proud deck, encompassed by a beautifully machined deck that effectively transforms and closes the once open-deck from the factory. All coolant passages are meticulously machined for correct gasket compatibilty and sufficient temperature control.

We will be using these blocks in our upcoming builds for both FI and NA development. There is much debate about open vs. closed deck. We're going to explore for ourselves and obtain firsthand experience with ERL's Superdeck blocks. We have very good success with Benson's open deck sleeved block in our 2240cc motor. However, we're open-minded and willing to try other quality products and explore the options for the community at large. Our attention was drawn to ERL's website and it stated the new K24 Superdeck blocks were in stock. There was no way we could turn that deal down, since we want to build these motors now!

I had to find out more about this so I checked out their web site (http://erlperformance.com). They actually have some really interesting in-depth articles about the Superdeck designs. Seems like an innovative company, cool that they weren't content to stay with the "standard" sleeve designs and wanted to keep improving on it.

Did they design their own main girdle for this motor, like they have for others?

I know you can't give a price, but are we talking more or less than a B series Dart block?

The K-series has a full girdle from the factory! I don't know how much a Dart block goes for.

Nice choice I congradulate you sir, seems like not too many people think outside of the box anymore.

Over 2 years ago I too was open minded and used a couple different companies for sleeving. Upon coming up with ERL i've stayed with them and have never looked back. Their professionalism and excellent machine work are two things of many that they have impressed me and my customers with, and they keep managing to impress me more and more. I can not say enough about Sean there, he is the man!
To date we are sponsoring 3 Hot Rod / Pro4 class racecars. All 3 are using ERL 5main girdles and 2 are using ERL sleeves and one of which is using a tall deck for 2.1L of displacement on methanol That particular person came to us with a sleeved deckplated block from another well known sleever that has had a problem with 2 sunken sleeves and after they didnt honor their so-called warranty he came to us for a new ERL block

We went to ERL today & Dropped off some -b- blocks to be sleeved.

We were chatting with Sean & we were Really Pleased with the K24 Sleeve work among other K24 tips they were doing as far as tapping the oil squirters adding the RSX squirters.

Those pictures show good detail but i must say they need to be seen in person.

Props To Sean & The Whole ERL Crew.

Benson's gives props to the machining on these blocks. They hold .0001-.0002" same as his. They're round as can be and it's a fine hone.
