Default need help w/ Ls turbo hatch

hi i just bought a 88 ls turbo hatch, my problem is it smokes a little, turbo lag up the *** (spool around 4000-45000), an the worst fucken gas millage 5-15 mpg, i just want to know wut maybe the problem

I think you have a bunch of problems. What size is the turbo? What kind of engine management does the car have? Got any pics of the set-up?

garret t3/t4 safc2 idk much else i boght it like this an the guy who i bought it from had it like this too he did nt know **** , so from wut i can tell the fuel managment is from the safc2

what are the specs on the t3/t4? (trim and a/r?)

what color is the smoke? When does the smoke come out of the exhaust?

5-15mpg when you are WOT all the time? or just normal "not in boost" driving

idk the trim i jus bought the car an the dude i got it from did nt know , the smoke is dark grey smoke when i get on it smokes a little when idel , when i drive it out of boost it gets like 10- 15mpg when in boost 5mpg

sounds like it's running rich as fawk

black smoke = rich
shitty mph= rich
no REAL tune = probably rich

get some real fuel manegment in there and it should solve your probelms

Honestly, you should throw it in the nearest trash can. The guage is highly inaccurate. It puts on a better light show than it actually functions. Either get a wide-band O2 sensor, or better yet, take your car to a dyno and have the shop do some A/F readings with their equipment. Like the other guy mentioned, it sounds like you are running rich, which on a turbo'd engine is probably safer than going lean.

Do you have any blow by? I just fucked my LS-turbo last week. I think my ringlands are destroyed but I won't know til I pull the motor.
