im installing my CAI rite now and i cant get it into 5th gear...i took everything out and i still cant get it into 5th.,..what the hell is wrong...!!!!

 

hey buddy , there is a golden colored little thing that moves when you shift gears *it is right underneath where the old intake box used to be* make sure there is nothing in the way of it, what kind of intake?

 

i found out what happen...u cant put the car in 5th when its off...u gotta turn it on and be moving in order to get into 5th...wierd..

me thinks u didn't follow the instructions. the part that said. PUT THE CAR IN 5th GEAR BEFORE YOUR INSTALL THE INTAKE.

of course you can. you can go through all the gears

you were in 5th when you did the install, right? if you weren't, you should've been. that could be a cause of whatever problems your having.

 

nah i fixed it....i cant put my car in 5th gear wen is off...maybe my **** is broke... i should take it back for warrenty if u guys can get ur car into 5th with it off and parked.... someone tell me if u guys can...the thing i think is wierd is that i can go to 1st,2nd,3rd,4th, wont go into 5th,will go into 6th and reverse with the car off...

 

i can't put my car into 5th when its off either..

5th gear when the car is off is sort of decieving. 1-2-3-4 all feel normal, but to engage 5th, you just need to feel it out - it's kind of hard to explain, but you definately can do it. in fact, you need to have the car in 5th when you do the install to make clearance for the intake.

it shouldn't be forced either, it should go right in.

yea jimmyjames that wasnt nice y0....

 

your pipe was just hitting your shift linkage. Put it in 5th and reinstall checking for clearance. you should be just fine

 

i fixed the problem...a long time ago

 

lol, my bad. Ya ive been in a europe the past few weeks so im not up to date on the threads like i was. Just helpin a brotha out. Btw, header is still workin strong
