Why is does the AEM CAI....
have a smaller diameter intake pipe then alot of the others like DC Sports? Just curious? maybe faster airflow???... some info would be great, thanks

haha, lol... they probably did R&D and found for a mostly stock motor given the length of the intake, the diameter used gives maximum increase at some point in the band so they can place a advertisement saying "DYNO PROVEN TO ADD 12HP" or some crap like that... don't spend too much time and money on a intake... thats not where the REAL power is gonna come from.

The best intake diameter is about 25% bigger than the bore of the TB. I am not sure exactly what the diameters of the rest of the CAI intake manufactures but from my calculations AEM has done a good job.
LS -> 2.5"
GSR -> 2.75"
ITR -> 3"
If you go too big, your not going to suck in any more air and you just unecissarily slow down the intake velocity reducing performance.
Go too small, and it becomes a bottleneck where the engine can't suck in as much air as it can, and it reduces performance.
