Default I want to turb up the boost, but not sure how high to go...

My current setup:

Garrett T3/T4 turbo (63/60)
Tial 38mm wastegate w/ .5bar (7psi) spring
Drag Manifold
2.5" intercooler piping
Greddy intercooler
HKS SSQV BOV
RC 550cc injectors
Lexus GS400 fuel pump (good for ~450whp)
2.5" crush bent exhaust
9.1-1 JE Pistons
JE Piston rings
Eagle rods
ARP headstuds
STR blockguard
Uberdata
Stock LS head

I'm currently making 235whp/200wtq on 7psi on my LS.

I want to up the boost to 15-17psi, but not sure how 'safe' it would be. My tuner does a GREAT job, I'm just wondering how much power my sleeves and bottom end can handle.

Any suggestions on how high I should push the car?

That doesn't help me much, but ok.

With a great tune, how much power should I run on this bottom end?

Although vague, I suppose that's a start.

Thanks for the reply.

The only weak part in your engine now are the sleeves which hold good to around 400-550whp. So I would aim for 400whp and call it a day. . Don't aim for how much boost, it's totally irrelavent. Aim for whp as this is the deciding factor in reliability along with good tuning

I wouldnt say that. I wouldnt take that turbo over 20psi. I would say your turbo is gonna be your biggest limiting factor at this point. Sleeves will be fine with some good tuning. But depending on how reliable you want your car, I'd aim for 350-400whp.

I wouldnt say that. I wouldnt take that turbo over 20psi.QUOTE]

They are good for 450 depending on the trim of course. 20PSI is out of the efficiency range for sure, but I've seen a lot of setup with 20-25PSI on these great turbos.

Good point to bring up though, plus at 20PSI you want to think about race gas and what not!

may I suggest getting rid of your crush bent 2.5 dp for a 2.5 mandrel bent AT LEAST, or better yet, 3.0 mandrel bent. This should net you more hp from your current setup.

Also a boost controller will hold the boost until you hit your desired level, as if your just running off the wastegate, it starts to open before you hit your desired boost level.

Both of these will make your current setup more efficient.

for example I run GSR, 10:1 CR, 348whp/325tq @ 10psi t3/t4e .60/.48, 3.0 dp and exhaust, thats damn efficient.

How different is it from the LS to the B16A block? I blew my B16, but that is because a main bearing came loose and shot the bottom of the rod into the piston and froze the engine. I would love to turn mine up. I am running at 7 psi.

Thanks for the great replies.

I didn't know if running 20psi would cause more strain on the engine over running 10psi and methanol injection and both making 375whp.

My DP is 2.5" mandrel bent, and the exhaust is 2.5" crush bent. I know I need this replaced.

Again, thanks for the replies.

I think before upping the boost, make/buy a new exhaust...3" While you're at it, you might as well go with a 3" DP. It's literally good for at least a 5% increase in power
