i was wondering if anyone knew of a way to increase the acceleration of our cars in 5th gear, other than changing the gear ratio.

im not referring to top speed, just the acceleration of 5th after you shift from redline in 4th

any ideas?

 

1) Shorter tires (this is really the same as changing gear ratios)
2) Better aerodynamics - front splitter, get rid of rear wing, lower the car
3) More HP - exhaust header intake cam gears and tuning, turbo or supercharger, higher compression

Why exactly do you want to increase acceleration in 5th gear? If 5th gear is too slow, I downshift to 4th. *shrug*

4) Lower weight.
5) naWWs555!!!

By doing these things, you will get better accel through ALL gears. You can't single out only the 5th w/o a tranny mod.

 

hmm, i think i will work on more weight reduction for now, thanks

 

or a final drive...you will be at a higher rpm though cause of it

 

some weird thing i found out long time ago..
i found something weird about WOT vs Partical throttle @ 5th gear..
i found that little gas = rpm goes up faster
WOT = rpm goes up slower
anyone ever found samething out?

Nope. More gas = faster accel. Perhaps something's wrong with your car.
