IPOD Stereo Crx. Whos Was It? Link?
Hey guys
I remember seeing something online about with a Crx and how he did a setup with just an IPOD thing and no CD player, basically just had the IPOD fill with songs and had an RCA cable I think going from the IPOD to the amp
Now if I did it this way Im assuming Id also have to have my speakers hooked up to the amp as well right? My amp is only a 2 chanel 1000 watt Clarion DPX 1000.2
I was hoping someone could help me figure out a way to make this work or if it will at all, any info would be appreciated or if anyone remembers seeing that setup on here if they could please post it
Thanks

Yea i have the same setup. You can get the part from radio shack for like $5. Its a red/black RCA to (standard cdplayer headphone out).. you plug in the headphone peice to your ipod, and the RCA to the input (which would normally be output on ur deck) into your amp.. works damn good. Be extremely careful on your volume though, damn i've almost blown my **** hella times, haha

If your deck has and AUX in set of RCAs, you can plug your Ipod DIRECTLY into your deck that way.

Forgive me if I sound like an idiot as I know nothing about sound, but how would this work if there's no radio wired in? Does the amp wire into the harness and feed the speakers?

you can buy a thing called itrip which is an adapter thingy that plugs on top of your ipod and changes everything to a radio frequency... my girlfriend has it and its pretty badass

About 1/3 of the way down this page there is a link.
These guys make a harness that plugs into the OEM deck and lets you run anything into the CD changer inputs on your Honda radio.
They also sell pretty much anything you'd need for Honda radio stuff.
I bought a early model female side of the radio plug for my CRX and then bought a late model male side for my '01(?) OEM Honda CD player. The wires were color coded and labeled (rightfront+, rightfront-, etc) just soldered them together and made an adapeter harness to plug and play the late model radio.

The guys at best buy told me I could not do this, can't remember why off the top of my head, but does this work?!

Because he wants you to buy their $25 kit. You only need ONE small cord that costs $5 at radioshack. Who cares what 'the guy' at bestbuy says, what does he know?
All your deck needs is AUX/input. you just plug your $5 cable in the rear, then plug it into your ipod, then switch your deck to AUX.

Thats good news for me! Does anyone know, do stock radio's have aux inputs? My GF would love to do this in her new Jetta.

An Ipod shouldn't put a signal that's more than a few milliwatts, as headphones need little current to produce enough sound. The amp you run it into should easily handle that, so run that rca adapter from the ipod to the inputs. No stereo, just you, amp, ipod, and music.
As aux inputs on radios, not many as for 2 yrs ago had them. It costs mfg's all of a dollar to put them on & interface with them, but that's $1 they could charge you $50 for the next model up
The only way to be sure of stock aux inputs is to put it out and check. Chances are if, when changing modes (fm/cd), you never went into "line-in" or "aux" mode, chances are it's not there.
As for the best buy guys...they get pressured to sell like a guy pressures a virgin to put out. On average, I trust their knowledge as far as I can throw them.

One also still needs to Wire up their Remote Turn on/Accessory Turn on to the Amplifier.
I'd like to point that out, or the amp will never know when to turn on.
This way, it will turn on w/ te ignition.

the only downfall to doing this is the ipods weak voltage output the amp sees a weak signal, most cd decks are at least 2v preouts highend are 4v giveing u bettersound due to the fact u arent crancking up the gain on the amp .....
From what I understand, there is a kit that you can purchase from your CD manufacturer (i.e. kenwood) to connect your ipod to your deck in a fashion that allows you to control the ipod on the deck. That'd be nice, but worth the $150 pricetag...???
