Engine Swap on a 94 Civic
Im in the process of saving for an engine swap in my 94 Civic EX. Ive done a lot of research about a swap and ive been told that an H22A would be a great choice, but then I hear a lot about a B16A. Im not looking for anything too expensive, and I know the H22's and B16's arent too cost efficient. I can get a H22A for 2400 shipped that comes with the engine, ecu, wiring harness, lsd trans and i think thats all. But I know I would need more than that to make my setup complete. Can I get some help and suggestions on this? It would be really appreciated.
can u really say uve done alot of research? a b16 and h22 arent eve ncomparable performance wise. the b16 will be eaiser swap and cheaper because its easier. with the money put into installing and buying the h22 u can have a gsr that will drop right in and add some bolt ons.

Get the B16 and use the money you would have spent on the H22 to do internal work. I saw a B16 on CheeseFrog pushing 802hp with 521tq! Am I saying that you can do that? No but I'm saying it's possible, you have to watch what you're doing.

I thought cheezefrog had an LS engine? Or did he get a B16 once his LS crapped out?

I already knew the performance isnt comparable between the two, im just trying to get other peoples suggestions on which would be easier and possibly cheaper. I see a lot of people think i should go with the b16 and im starting to go towards that myself. What all would I need to do the swap though, besides the stuff that comes with the swap (engine, ecu, wiring harness, and lsd trans)
Also my d16 has 170k miles so turbocharging it would be kind of pointless. I want to bring this car back to life. It has very high potential.

Unless you know how to do a H22 swap on your own it's going to cost a grip (that's a lot). I would just go with the B-Series, you can get the power out of them you're looking for with proper tuning. Make sure you know where you're going to have work done, some people will take over charge.

So basically I should get a b16 because theirs no way I could put a h22 in by myself. I dont have the equipment or experience. How much you think a b16 would run me, meaning with everything ill need to have the setup and ready to run
like 2500 but personally i wouldnt consider a b16 an upgrade, i have an ex and ive beat b16s before. i would the get a gsr, a helms, friends and a day or 2. u can pick up a gsr for around 2700-3300 depending and install it for free

You could just go with a JDM B16 and build it up, it's a pretty easy swap. I'm not sure if Ex's are wired for Vtec but that's something you need to keep an eye out for. It's easier to go with the B16, they are under estimated, and down the line you can almost get the same amount of power out of them as anything else. But we'll see, start the project and see where it takes you.
