H22 to b16 swap
Hi new to the forums as a member been reading/ searching on here for about a year. Found a 1992 hatchback civic for sale for $500 has a built but blown h22 motor I want to buy it but do not know if I am able to still swap in a b16. Any help is appreciated.

Er. NOT that easy. There's modification that needs to be done to get the H in the car in the first place. Cutting is involved. If you can get over that hurdle then it's easy. Makes no sense to not get another H to swap back in.

Old myth nonsense. There is an extensive resource in the Hybrid section that addresses this engine. People are and have been running H-series in some form or another for quite sometime. Read for yourself.
But anyway, read what it takes to get an H in your car then you'll realize what you have to undo to get a B-series in.

the biggest hurdles you would have is putting a factory mount back in on the trans side that is either cut or removed and replaced depending on the mount kit they used, and where the shifter goes in usually gets cut out bigger so some metal might have to be welded back in. i usually try to stay away from other people's projects though. stock is the best place to start unless you know the people did quality work

Depending what is blown up, it could be a good deal. The H22 head can be worth a few hundred, a shell is hard to find for a fair price, the ecu could be worth something if they had a chipped one in there.
Why not just swap another H in, or tear into the motor and see what's wrong. In the meantime, you can get an F22 or F23 cheap and they are said to make decent power for what they are.
I currently have a B18C1 and I'm planning to swap it out for an H22. When you get down to it, there's not THAT much difference in weight, I think it was somewhere around 60lbs.

More like 23 lbs, IIRC. Another older member here actually took the time to set up both motors and transmissions on a meat scale when he was deciding between doing H22 full swap, or H2B.
