okay so i put in my d16z6 motor and tranny, and when i hooked the shift linkage up to the actual shifter itself, the gears felt sloppy... like i could put it in 5th, and move it straight over left to like where 1st would be... do you think its the actual transmission thats causing tlhe sloppyness? or did i forget a rubber washer or something when i hooked it up?

 

Did you use a spring pin aka bitch pin or did you just use a bolt and nut?

 

well i never unhooked the linkage from the motor itself, cuz i didnt wanna deal with the pin where it connects to the transmission

 

is there a bitch pin on the actual shifter itself? im thinking i might ahve forgot to put in the rubber washers

 

are there even rubber washers that go on there?

O.K. Let me geat this straight. You did not disconnect the shift linkages from the tranny (not the engine ). Are you using your shifter from your car or a different one? Did you disconnect the shifter at the shifter? You would have to of then because the shifter has to come off one end. If you did disconnect the shifter at the shifter, then I would have to say that the sloppy shifting is due to not installing it agian right. There are rubber bushing that go on the shifter. I doubt there is something that wrong with the tranny where it would be sloppy. I really don't understand why you didn't just disconnect the shifter at the tranny. One bolt and a bitch pin and it's off. Way less work then removing the shifter.

There are rubber bushings that go on thew shifter assembly. If there not there then there's your problem . Get under there and put some bushings on that thing!

 

shifter is from my car, we disconnected the linkage from the shifter itself, can i get a picture or sumthing showing how to properly hook it up?
