so i can use my 1.5 dizzy on my z6 head????
i've done it with no probs but other people would say no, that it wont work properly. Yes I used it, yes my timing was correct(checked with timing light), and had other people check to make sure i was seeing it right. try searching for stuff under "mini-me" or try the mods names, one of them had a write up on all that stuff
Drill out the holes in the dizzy with a dremel until it works.
Personally I think it's kind of a hassle and i'd just get a distributor that fits, but that's just me.

all i did was bolt it on and thats how i got it to work. But there are a lot of people that dont believe me when i say that, I have a dizzy on my car that has been on a y8, y7, z6, d15b7, always worked with no modifying and no probs with timing. Then again, thats just me and aparently does not work like that for everyone.
:shrugs:
right now i have a y8 bottom end with worked z6 head, formerly turbo'd with no probs

you can get it to work, just keep moving it until its cool with a timing light. you may have to take a bolt or so out
fyi - i had a dx dizzy running my b18. no bolts lined up, i used zip ties! but it worked until i got the new dizzy

ohh man my brain is going to explode.....so it will work but it has to be drilled out? that is no prob. i got tools for that as long as its not TO hard.... but will it make a diff. to get a z6 dizzy or mod. mine? is the only diff the bolts????
Dont drill anything out. The bearings in my 92 si dis. went out and I couldn't find a z6 distributor. I got a 1.5 dis and swapped the internals out. The 1.5 internals will fit in the z6 housing.

i know from personal experience that it does not work and any one that says it will bolt right up is a jackass i was out there for about 1 and a half hrs trying to make a 1.5 dizzy bolt on to my z6 head because someone on h-t was 100% sure it bolted on i tried every damn way possible or thought possible and nothing

i just put the dizzy on it and kept turning it till the timing light matched up. was about a half an inch away from the top peg. i put a bolt with a big washer on it so it kinda held the dizzy in, and then zip tied the **** out of it so it would move. worked well for about 2 weeks until the new one came in

So... from the information in this thread, a 1.5L dizzy looks like it will fit, Guts are the same, BUT the bolt holes dont even come close to lining up when the timing is set where it needs to be?
Right?
Why did Honda make so many variations of the Civic dizzy with the same guts and different bodies, instead of just making one that would fit all SOHC?

Yeah, but that being the case, why doesnt every model of engine have something different on it so it is very difficult/impossible to swap it into a different car?
In other words, engine swaps are easier than dizzy swaps.

That doesn't make sense to me. Engine swaps are by far more complicated than a dizzy swap. Plus the cost of an engine swap is WAY more than a dizzy. According to your logic all hondas should have the same motor so that they can easily be put into different vehicles w/o having to change the wiring or anything else for that matter. According to honda your logic is semi-correct. They use similar style motors for space/weight/quality reasons. (for example only)However, if you want more power...we have the vtec version of that......vtec heads are totally different from non-vtec heads, yet are similar in shape. My guess is they needed a different dizzy housing to meet the needs of the new head. Thus you have to have the different housing if you want to have that head on your motor. Yes, it costs money to have something nicer than what you already have. That is the essence of capitalism. You want more, you pay more. Honda is not out to make you happy, they are trying to meet thier needs, at the same time meeting thier target customer's needs.
You missed the point I was stating.
The dizzys are pretty much the same, but shaped just different enough so that you cant interchange them, (how is putting the top and front bolt holes 1/2 farther CCW supposed to have any better function just because u have a VTEC head?)
If Honda had done this to get more money then they would have made engines way more different than they did between generations and models, so that they would be nearly impossible to interchange.
