d15 mini me or z6 for boost??
* i posted this in the forced induction forum as well *
i have a d15b7 and i picked up a z6 head for 50 bucks. while it was off i wanted to get all the seals replaced, retainers..just rebuild it for boost. this will be the first swap/boost operation i will be working on....
the thing is someone mentioned that why dont i just pick up a z6 block and build that for boost?
what i am wondering is which is better for boost? the mini me swap or the z6 head/block set up??
i tried searching but i couldnt find exactly what i was looking for. i just found times and set ups.
any help is appreciated guys thanks alot.

with the z6 head you will have a rather high compression ratio for boost (about 10.1) so i would say if you use the z6 head you will have to get lower compression pistons on top of it where the D15 you wont
i'd do the z6 block/head deal. mini-me's (in your case the b7 w/z6 head) puts you at about 10.5:1 cpr, while the z6 has 9.2:1 cpr. you can still boost the mini-me, but you'd only be able to push maybe 5-6lbs with a good tune.
so your saying that if i stick with the d15block i wont have to get low compression pistons?
but if i go with the d15 block i wont be able to hold much boost?
so should i go with the d16 block and get 9:1 cprs pistons???
