Better for boost? d16a6 or a6 block with z6 head?
Ok so since I have a whole extra Si sitting around I'm thinking of taking the a6 from it and boosting it instead of a b series swap.
So now, what would be a better set up for boost? just a complete a6 motor, or a a6 block with a z6 head? I've heard both good and bad about boosted vtec motors.
My goals for a motor at the moment are like 200whp. Thats not too high of a number right? I'm willing to build internals, since I want to rebuild the motor anyway.
To tell you the truth, i'd rather stick with the a6 head to keep it obdO, unless the vtec head will give me more potential later down the road to turn up the boost.
I know this is a newb question guys, im sorry, im a newb when it comes to boost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

if your going to build the bottom end use a y8 head and low comp pistons, the y8 head will allow you to use the stock distributor atleast

will that allow me to keep it obdO? Also using my stock dizzy will I still be able to activate vtec?

Yea i heard with the y8 head u can use ur obd-0 dizzy, but would need something like v-afc for vtec...
I would recommend going with a obd-1 swap...

use the D16A6,it'll easily make 200whp on boost...stock.
btw..the A6 head is just as good,if not better than the Z6.Hell Bisi used the A6 to run 10s NA

use the z6 head with some vitara pistons.
your c/r will be around 8.6ish to one and the vitara pistons are much stronger than stock.
also you can use an obd0 or 1 distro on the z6 head and u can use a ps9 and turboedit to do the VEETEEECH and boost. to use the obd0 distro on the z6 head you just have to cut one of the legs to get the timing set right; it's been done many times.
and right now i'm using an a6 head on a z6 bottom end with an obd1 distro in that head. its not a great combo but my z6 head i bought with that longblock had bent valves so i threw the a6 back on tehre for the time being.
At the moment i'm waiting for some vitara pistons; LS rods and a block guard so i can have a semi-built Z6 w/ a boost friendly low c/r and much stronger pistons.
