Default turbo on 93 dx hatch?

Is a turbo on a 1993 honda Dx hatch worth the money? Or should i wait to get a vtec. I mean im kinda low on money so thats about all i can afford right now.

Why not.... If the motor you have is okay go ahead. If you MUST have VTEC, just throw a Y5/Y8/Z6 head on there.

They can take some abuse but it depends what your long term plans are: MY biggest mistake that i wish i could do over was have a plan from the start of and my car and stick to it. I wasted endless money trying to go all motor in the begg. and ended up with a sweet as car ( bless boost) but could of saved alot of money if i only did things once. Just my personal exp..

for the money you'd spend on turboing the D15,you could have a B series swap.will probably be faster, and definitely has more potential.
if you're talking about a ghetto turbo kit-say $1500,you could do an LS/B20 swap.
for the price of a nice turbo kit-about $3000,you could do a B18C1 swap.

More potential...you dont even know this guys goals. If he wanted 200whp and would be satisfied, he can reach that before he would have enough to buy a B16, let alone the mounts and whatever else is needed to get that in his car. Okay now he has an LS that probably cost around 1000 or so with a whopping 140hp at the crank.

how the hell do you plan to get 200WHP out of a D15 for less than the cost of a B16 swap?!
decent turbo kit, aftermarket pistons and rods, machine work,clutch,etc.....it adds up.and then you have a D15 that still has NO torque out of boost, and is a pretty extreme build...all to have 200WHP.
he asked for opinions-i gave mine.you gave yours.
i've driven and owned FI D15/D16 cars.i'd take my stock B20 in my hatch with a whopping 140 crank HP over a bolt on kit with a D15 any day.
i say save your money to get a swap, then turbo THAT one day-then you'll be getting somewhere.
it's all a matter of how quick he wants it.i was stupid and had to have something right now in the past.as a result my cars have been through numerous builds, just to end up where i should have been the first time.if you don't have the patience,do whatever you want.if you don't want to backtrack and waste money, then figure out what you want, and save your money until yuo can get it.

Search man. People have gotten 200whp+ from greddy kits that go for 1300. I have seen something like 220 with the AFC Hack--the second shittiest form of management

And hopefully I will be able to post my dyno sheet of 200+ for less than 1K (that 1K will only be mandatory items and tuning, not extra guages and fans and whatnot that I have purchased.

on a D15?i can see it with a D16,but everything i've read(which i admit isn't a ton since i've never done much research on turbo'd D15s)says the D15B7 and D15B8 can handle about 50 more HP over stock(whather that be nitrous or turbo/supercharger) with stock internals before rods start breaking.
you still can't tell me that a turbo D15 has any torque when lagging around town either

Ok you got me there. I dont know about D15's since I have a D16 And IIRC the only dyno and info I have seen was on D16....granted I dont pay much attention....to the exact engine code. And I wasn't trying to **** on your opinion...I am just an adovocate of using what you got until it doesnt work. Besides if you blow up a D series, you can usually get a block really cheap. You cant get those as cheap with a B series

K well it sounds like im gonna save up and just be patient. And get a vtec. Id rather be patient and have a car with a higher potential. Thanks for the help. Its just i raced this kid in a subaru legacy turbo and he beat me by two car lengths. And it was kinda embarassing.

if you do plan on boosting the D15,Mista Bone knows a ton on what upgrades are needed and any other weak spots.i think he still posts on here.
