Are the plugs for the alternators different? I searched and didn't get a specific answer. Can I use a obd2 alt in a obd1 block?

YUP plugs are differant. and you can use either obd1 or 2 alt in the block.

would I have to get a obd1 or obd2 alt depending on the obd of the block?

as far as I know, either will work, but you'll need the harness end if the obd is different

I bought a high-output alt 150A for a 1998 Integra OBD-II and put it on my JDM B16A 2nd gen OBD-I. All I needed to do is change the plug. I now have the same alt in my 1991 Teg, no problems. Just wire the bitch up correctly.
