my 97 dx(stock) has this idle problem were after i start it idles high until warm them starts to idle normal then drop to the point of almost shuting off only to go back then fall again. i had a friend use his code reader and it came up as a bad map sensor i replaced it but the problem is still there, can anybody help me?

Reset your ecu, could be your IACV, or you may just need to adjust your idle.

 

i reset the ecu and its still happing,one thing i forgot to mention was the car sat for 8 months without starting. i was out of the country.

I'm having the same type of problem on my EJ8. IACV stands for Idle Air Control Valve? Where is this located? Could it also be that a bad TPS throws a code for a bad MAP?

 

Ok, I located and cleaned out my IACV. Lets see if this idle problem continues...
