the difference between a 5 speed and an AT is the cams(thats it)

Youll be able to tell by the manifold(itll have extra vaccum connections) and the drive plate will have AT stamped on the nuts(unless hes changed it of course)

...and it'll have a flex plate and not a flywheel.

I thought that the engines are the same, well performance wise. Would you be able to tell if you had a b16 from an automatic car for a 5spd car...

Same cams, weaker valve springs.

well AT block will have flex plate and 5spd will have a clutch, flywheel etc.......

and i recall people saying 5spd B16a has dual valve springs and AT doesn't

Boy, there is a lot of missinformation on the net.
Both engines are identical, same cams, same springs, same everything else.
the difference is in the ECU.
Automatic transmissions on B16 came only on the Integra Xsi, and it had a PR3 ECU. The ECU limits the engine to 7600 RPM to protect the transmission, not the engine. The ECU also reduces power at the shift points in order to protect the transmission from shifting at full power.
