Default automatic b16 cams

i have a automatic b16 longblock. i want to put my GSR cams in it...do i have to change the valve springs? i heard they are weaker for the auto b16 because it is only rated at 150hp.

They are only single springs, so yes a spring change would be good.

i have 99 Si springs, but no retainers. think its cool to keep the auto's retainers? think they are the same as the 5-speeds?

makes me wonder how many of these heads are out there. i mean if someone puts a gen1 head on a b20/LS project and doesn't touch the cams assuming they are half-way decent (5-speed)...they are seriously taking a performance hit.

with those GSR cams allone i will see a 10+ hp improvemnt...and thats on a stock 10.2:1 1.6L block.

Can someone please prove to me that the fricken Cams and heads are different in any way!!!!

Think about it, if Honda builds almost everything the same (i.e B series engines in there CRV) Why in the world would you guys think that they would build different cams for an automatic, let alone heads!!!!

I doubt the heads on 5-speed vs auto B16 are any different. But it's a common fact the B16 auto cams are milder than the 5-speed cams. Somebody mentioned their b16 auto had single valvesprings. I know my b16 5-speed has dual valvesprings on the intake.

That's a common fact. The ecu on an auto will only let you rev to 7800. Hence the single valve springs. The auto cams suck. They produce like 130 hp to the wheels.

Both Auto and 5-SPD 1st Gen cams suck . If you're trying to run the auto trans as well, then go buy an ACCORD
A lot of 1st Geners upgrade to SOME type of better cam anyhow. Who really wants to keep there 1st Gen stock???
