Default b16 auto or manual..cant tell, hugh??

Im trying to figure out if my 1gen b16 came out of an auto or manual, how can you tell the difference?
so i know what kind of cams it has.

if it was an automatic it will only have a single valve spring on the intake side, not dual.

i though only the itrs have dual intake valve springs or at least not the 1st gen?
i also bought a longblock so no flywheel..

When you got your engine did it have a torque converter plate attached to it or a flywheel? Every motor my friends got when he has done swaps has had either attached. This is the easiest method of telling. If it didn't have either, I am willing to bet that the vehicle the motor came out of was an automatic.

Yes, also the automatics torue converter plate bolts have AT stamped on the bolts head. MT don't have these markings. The B16a longblock I got from Nippon motors was AT. HTH
