Default Smogged and failed!!! HELP!!! GSR HATCH

Have b18c1 swap on my civic, went to ref first time, failed because my o2 was in back of the cat, purge valve was missing, timing at 9 degrees, but passed the emissions test by a slight margin. Took it back today, fixed all the problem, but failed the emissions. Tech there ran it three times because they thought it might have been the cat wasn't warm enough. Failed by margins. HC and NOx failed by margins. Have new cat, skunk2 manifold, new spark plugs, dc 4-1 headers, and everything else stock. The other day i put that crappy guarantee to past thinging in my fuel. What can be the problem for high HC and NOx?

Here are smog check results. First test past! Other 3 test, all different readings failed.

Last weeks f irst test passes, but visual failed
----------- Co2----O2 ----HC(ppm)----------CO(%)-----------NO(ppm)-----Results

I am not an expert, but I can tell you that its running lean according to the Co2 measurement. Looks like you have an ignition issue judging by the high hc (unburnt fuel) issue. Have you changed plugs lately? Cap and rotor in good shape? The nox is pretty darn high also which could be from running lean. Any mods done to this engine? Haven't upped the compression have you?

interesting that it gets worse on each consecutive test. The HC on test3 are over double the numbers in test1. What octane fuel are you running? What's the story on this "guarantee to past thinging" How do you put in a claim for that?

I was running 91, I put on the guarantee to past thinging on a full tank, ran it until emtpy, refilled and went to ref. Its bs on the claim, have to have a repair bill to get double my refund.

Step one: remove shitty nology wires, replace with stock
Step two: restest.

Its simple what I mean. "Upped" compression means just that. Did you do anything to raise compression, such as mill the head, deck the block, change the pistons, use a thinner headgasket, etc.

Also, return with 89 octane to see if it solves the HC issue as well.

Type R springs = same as GSR intakes, you just move the intakes to the exhaust side and replace the intakes with "r" springs. $80 upgrade, if that. The retainers are the same also. No difference. I don't know why people keep saying "ITR retainers" like its something special...

Without knowing the history of that engine, it might not turn out to be as good of a "Deal" as you thought.

Of course they did. They HAVE to smog it as an Integra. The header should make little difference.

okay CO2 can tell u if it is running lean but that if its above 15 like way above look CO2 is just right for him o2 is low if it was high then it would be lean he is runing a lil rich from the looks my recommandation is take the wires and the plugs off go factory, my friend had platium plugs and failed that was all he had everything else was stock also dont put high ocatane if you dont need to from personal, i did this once while smoging at school and had the same reading like you. for extra use rubbing alcohol not a lot like 3 spoon fulls and then go get it smoged

put rubbing alcohol on a full tank? run like 89 instead of 91 + rubbing alcohol? THe platinum spark plugs should be replace with something cheaper? Should I use alchohol on the same tank to the smog? Or should I run it b4 I go get it smog?

the header makes a BIG difference. DC header doesnt keep the cat hot enough. the stock cast iron manifold retains a lot more heat, keeping the cat temperature higher and making it more efficient. DC headers have been known to keep people from passing smog.

Also ditch the platinum plugs and go with NGK's: bkr6-es, the correct plug for the GSR motor. if you haven't changed the oil or air filter for a while, they'll both help you to pass.

yes have the rubbing alcohol in the same tank as the smog not before and lowwer octane and NGK plugs, if u have the old header laying around throw that on most likely u will pass then like dantastic said it keeps a lot of ppl from passing
