smog test...pls help
ok i went in today to get a smog test and failed ...and i made the mistake of going to a smog test only station ... before i went in i needed a new cat so i purchased a random tech cat, i put my stock airbox back on and all my sensors checked out ok... i have a dc header but it has a carb# and the tech said that it shouldnt be a problem, everything went ok until the emissions test... i passed the HC and CO tests but failed the NOx level test... it measured at 618 and the max allowable was 484...what the hell am i supposed to do now?? should i change my airfilter? how bout igniton timing? i need help...i dont wanna go to a mechanic and pay more $$$ if its simple to do...any suggestions??

Re: smog test...pls help (Racerage1)
try changing out your DC header....
I don't remember where I read it, but I have a feeling that those headers give you high readings...
They smogged with it in, and it didnt pass the sniffer, and then they took it out and passed with flying colors....
oh yeah, and make sure your timing is on also, look on your hood for the correct degrees...
JUST TRY TO TAKE THAT HEADER OUT!
