Default 7.8:1 Sohc 1.5 Base Timing.

I was running 14 deg at idle on my 10:1 motor.

Now im running much lower at 7.8:1

18 degree's too much ? Any experience with SIMILAR compression would be helpful.

Thank you.

the general rule is you can run more agressive timing with lwer compression. I'm not sure on your engine though. I hope someone can help you.

Bump

Thanks for the bump dude.
BTW I upped the timing to 18 and car feels much more responsive.

BTW boost is around 6-7 psi.
But planning on a bit more.

Are you talking about base timing or total timing?

What are you using for engine management?

Base timing Ryan.
-Uberdata
Thanks.

BTW its not a dog. Its not my 10:1 motor, but its not weak by any means. I daily drive it and its just fine.
Especially now with the timing at 18.

why did you go with such low compression for only 6-7 psi?

Why don't you just run your base timing at 16?

1 bar? I do that with stock pistons. With that compression I'd be running like 20psi on pump lol.

I figured since the compression was so low I could run a little more timing to help compensate for the off boost power.
It does feel good at 18 s im gonna stick with it.

BTW this wasnt a BUILD. This was a " I blew my motor and put in what I had"
So thats why I chose this low compression.

Im not running 14 psi for 2 reasons. If I get my wg act to hit 14 psi in 1st and 2nd gear, 3rd will instantly shoot to over 20. I need to get a new one.
It only holds steady up to about 6-7 psi.

Thanks.

Base timing doesn't really matter when you're running something like Uberdata.

All that matters is that your base timing matches on the distributor as what you have input in Uberdata. Then tune your actual timing maps.

Yeah I thought you can be aggressive as you like with base timing out of boost despite any compression ratio. And timing should be almost flat until boost and drop from there as you go through rpms, you just add timing till you ping basically (then pull it back a few degrees to be safe).

Someone correct on this if I'm wrong.

ditto...

wait... acutally to be really correct until you hit "MBT" or in other terms peak power at that rpm/load then back timing back
