Default Extending Wastegate port ..Cody/Tinker i need help here.

Here is my dilema:
I have a Love Fab manifold. The way the Wastegate flange is welded makes the WG dumptube run very close to the Radiator..I have a thingle single core radiator and basically all the the heat discharged by the dumptube makes the radiator heatsoak, causing overheating problems sometimes...specially on track days when i want to whip the car in the 1/4 mile.. So i have to find a solution in order to put a dual core radiator. Problem is,as i said that the dumptube passes like 1/2" from the rad...
see pics:

So i've come to possible 2 solutions for the problem:

1. Send the manifold back to Cody so he can re position/rotate the WG flange so the WG dump tube points straight down...or

2. Get 2 flanges and make a machine shop fab a 1-2" extension so the extension will have a rotated flange and i can re position the WG to point down and do the dump tube. This way the dump tube will be atleast 2-3 inches away from the Radiator and i will have enough space to put a dual core one.

I dont want to cut the flange on the manifold cause that would Void the warranty and if i send the manifold to Cody that would mean i would be w/o my only way of transportation for atleast a 3 weeks to a month.

So it seems like Option 2 is what i should shoot for..Now my concern is that if i do this.. Will it affect the WG port as in cracking issues? The manifold is very strong and great quality but making the WG port longer could increase the risk of cracking..

help me out here..I need ideas..

I would say heat wrap the DP and dump tube and you should be fine. I am not really all that sure that the heat from the dump tube could cause overheating though. You could always have it reflanged locally. Talk to Cody about it. He is pretty cool when it comes to these types of things. I bet he would allow you to keep the warranty in effect as long as the all you did was reflange the WG section. Anyhow, I hope you get it all worked out.

Talk to Cody first. I had to have some changes made to my Lovefab SST so it would clear my setup and he turned it around very quickly. If he just has to re-weld the WG flange, then he may be able to take care of it in a day or two. But definitely call him before you do anything, I know he was very good about taking care of me when I needed some help.

We had to do the same thing locally to a friends lovefab manifold. The wastegate pipe was shortened a little and it fit fine

just wrap it.... and you will be fine ! also you could tie-wrap a small aluminium plate on your rad to reflect the heat.

And im not sure that it is the cause of your overheating problem ? why are you assuming that its the reason ?

Rigth now i have it Heat wrapped but the dumptube touches the Downpipe so there is a section that cant be wrapped..

we took the temperature on the radiator hoses and the diference is not even 6 degrees so the Radiator is not efficient and its deffinitelly heat soaking..In order to put a dual core rad i have to atleast rotate the wastegate cause as you see in the pics the clearance is very tight and a dual core rad will be slightly thicker.

If i flip it 180 degrees then it will point towards the upper Rad hose so there is no space to do the dump tube..

about the link...Thay might help...however i have a Racegate which is 42mm, not the regular 35mm deltagate/Tial flange..

how about ...
(if you already havn't ) Talk to Cody, or just get a new dumptube made, have it curve over and dump in front of where the EGT is located. You'll still have enough room for the dual core too.

Mill the dumptube flange at a slight angle to point it way from the rad?

Well i did a quick and maybe ghetto solution untill i can send the Manifold tp Cody to be proffesionally done..

I basically Bought 2 flanges and fabricated my own rotation WG plate.. Took them to a muffler shop so they could be Welded together..

Here it is..

Who knows..It might actually work like a charm

And here is the profesional non ghetto one by atpturbo.. That one wont fit my WG so i did my own.

Well i did it..I rotated the wastegate and re positioned the dumptube...so now i can also have space to put a dual core radiator next weekend and go tune..

Just sharing the results..YOu can see the new fabricated flage to rotate the WG 90 degrees.

Nice work

Looks much better, and you didn't have to send in your manifold!
