I Have 1998 Honda Civic Ex With a D16Y8 Non Vtec Motor but I fucked it up so Im wondering if I can Buy a 1999 Civic 1.6 Motor with Vtec to replace? What else would I need? WOuld I Need moutor mounts since 1998 and 1999 are the cars and motors basically?

 

it should bolt right in there with all the motor mounts and stuff you have now. whats wrong with the motor u have right now? u just want vtec? if your going to do a swap why not just go b18 er sumthin

 

Man I Fucked My D16Y8 up because i Ran the car with no oil so basically i spun a bearing. If I Me Personally was going to do a swap I would do a k20 or k20a Or Just buy the new 2006 Honda Civic Si Coupe .

 

I thought the d16y7 was the non vtec engine..... dont all ex trim models have vtec?

how do you know if your motor doesnt have vtec?

haha u got giped. i thought all ex models came with vtec also. new news to me lol. dont get a 06 hatchback. lol. to heavy. just buy a hatch n put a k20 in it.lol

u got a y8 w/out vtec? i would like to see that. do u know what the solenoid looks like? cuz all ex's have vtec and if its a y8 it does

Hatches dont suk, and non-vtec's dont belong in Civic EX's, especially if you have emissions control in your state. Im not sure about Arkansas though?
