Default TWM ITBs

is my car supposed to run that rediculously rich using TWM itbs?... the car is a 88 CRX converted to OBD1 (gsr ecu for now) .. LS/VTEC with toda b cams. even with the vacuum canister, its produces low vacuum, .. so what i did was hook the map sensor directly to a handheld vacuum pump giving it 18" of vacuum, and it still runs rich like hell... is that normal, or is this just happening because of the cams. gotta get the problem fixed because the spark plugs keep fouling, and the gas is draining like crazy. also the injectors are stock for now, until the EMS arrives. any help?

It's partly due to the fact that your using a stock ecu.....the TPS on your TWM ITB's has a higher voltage reading then a stock honda throttle body TPS. So your ecu is reading a higher TPS voltage at idle then normal and the ecu thinks that the throttle is open a certain percent. You should be able to correct this with EMS or by using the latest crome software.

I had the same problem when I first started my car, but Brandon and I street tuned the car for about an hour with crome and it has never felt better...I will be putting it ont he dyno soon, aswell.

also which twm's 1st generation or new ones ? the first gen fuel reg bumps pressure to 60psi to compensate for using a smaller injector to deliver 440cc. even though you are using stock 234cc, the stock pressure is 43psi and if its 60psi then ...

also, are you using original 1st gen b16a stock injectors or did you also use obd1 injectors and eliminate resistor box ?

lastly, did you at least hook up a vaccum guage in series with the map sensor to ensure it is creating a vaccum.

I recently installed a set of TWM 52mm's on our race motor and the TPS was pretty close to being within spec. How do you have your vaccume lines ran to the MAP? We ran into issues with running the MAP off of just one runner. If you stick a vaccume gauge on one runner you will see that the reading fluxuates rapidly. It took some playing around with our vaccume line setup/ vac canister/throttle plate position to get a accurate, stable reading.

the injectors im using are stock OBD1 GSR with the resistor box eliminated. as far as the vacuum goes, i made a canister tapped for the 4 vacuum nipples from each runner, one for the brake booster, and one for the map sensor. i did hook up the guage in series with the map sensor vacuum.. i set the fpr at the lowest i can go at 35psi (stock fuel pump) still no luck. hopefully i can find another map sensor this week and try that out. oh, and i dont know what series ITBs i have. all i know is that is came with the carbon fiber horns, and i can mount the IAT directly to it. thing is.. when i rev the car to about 2500rpm in neutral, i can pull about 17-19 in of vacuum. but the car still runs rich. and the only code im getting is for a knock sensor.

honestly sounds like you mixed up your wiring for tps ... maybe you should tetll us how you did your wiring for the tps to the twms ... red, yellow and green wires connected to what pins on the twms when facing the tps plugs for the twms ?

Maybe try a vacuum pump to the MAP sensor...Pull about 25-30 inches and see if that helps out, if not some other input to your ecu must be the culprit... I think the TPS should measure .5 volts at closed position and 4.5 at WOT...
stock ecu right?

how about your timming ...if your timming is out of wack then the engine wil have a hard time running ..wont be able to pull the right vaccume and on top of that if there isnt enough vaccum then the map will make things worse ....
