bad map sensor?
I have a 97 LS with what I believe to be a bad map sensor
Background: My buddies LS swapped civic was running like *****, it had terrible idle surge problems, and would bog occasionally along with running really rich or really lean depending on the base map he was running. I let him run his car with my throttle body (tps was untouched, and we didn't remove/swap the map sensors out of the throttle bodies) with a p75 it ran like a champ (he was originally using a mugen chipped p28 with ls base map)
Anyhow: We put his throttle body on my motor and it runs like ***** which is suspected. However we thought it was the tps because his had been removed before. I was having idle surge, backfiring, and bogging problems like he was with his on. We adjusted the tps to read .5v when closed throttle and it read 4.55v at wot, which is factory. This ended the idle surge problem but the backfiring and bogging problem remained.
My conclusion: The only thing left that I thought might be the problem is the map sensor. So far no cel's but its still running really ballsy.... I plan to swap back throttle bodies but would like to figure out the problem first.
Question: With these symptoms, are there any other possibilities of something else faulting. The only thing that was changed in the entire set up was the tb.
