Default will running lean cause wierd overheating?

i just got my b18b with 750's aem ems, 57trim up and running. crusing is fine. when i start boosting the temps start rising. so i did a data log and its running really lean. did a 2nd gear boost and the wideband was reading 15 so i shut it down and waiting for tune. i'm wondering because i'm going to go tune this fri and want it to be working right. i've been reading and it could be head lifting, hg. but i'm thinking its not the hg cause it only heats up when i boost and its running REALLY lean. so that may be the cause. trying to get a dual core rad in before the tune.

Thanks for any input

Actually I believe it's the opposite... running lean makes the engine get hotter, also retarded timing heats up the motor..... Running rich, the fuel cools down the mixture and combustion.

I agree with the above. I had the head lifting on my B16, it was fine off boost but as soon as you hit boost the temp went straight up to the red.

depending on timing, you may be burning fuel in the exhaust manifold, that would give you false "high" EGTs. Since your AF is lean, this is probably not the case.

compression test? more than 5% variation from cylinder-cylinder gives me cause for concern.
