Question on Portflow stiffened inner valve springs
Sup guys, I finally got some JDM ITR cams for my GSR. I needed your advice on a valvetrain upgrade. Would getting Portflow stiffened inner valve springs be good enough for me to rev up to 8500 rpms? And whats the max i can rev with them?
Also, i would only need to change my intake springs to the exhaust side and install the new springs on the intake side correct? I was told earlier that the GSR intake and ITR exhaust springs are the same.

i just talked to da_rockwilda and he said that the portflow springs are too stiff and would not make as much power because it would make it harder for the cams to open up the valves. can anyone confirm this?
yep. too stiff for stock cams.
get itr intake springs and move your intake springs to the exhaust side.
get some ti retainers and you are good to 9500

i see...in the future, would i beable to use that valve train for more aggressive cams? My only reason for wanting stiffer springs is for future upgrades if i ever plan to upgrade my cams again ya know?
it really depends on which cams you want to uupgrade to.
portflow inner + itr intake outer are good to 12mm lift. but not
any further.

Thats the setup I have on my car...even though Im only using ITR cams.
I figure, better safe then sorry...and also if I ever wanna upgrade to something like JUN3s...no need to go thru the hassle of swapping the springs out. Do it once, do it right

I am installing A JUN 2 exhaust cam sat, and I think it si too aggresive for stock springs, I may be wrong, however I will install portflow inners, on both the intake and exhaust side when I do the cam Install, is this a good Idea or not?

jun titanium retainers are pretty good.
Yeah...the thing is that the porfflow stiffened inner valve springs are only 80 bucks from jdmhondaparts.com. Thats cheaper than the JDM itr valve springs! I thought if its cheaper and protects better, then i should just get that. I thought wrong though
Anyone know why the JDM ITR inner valve springs are more stiff than the USDM ones if the camshafts are the same?

FYI the "JDM" springs are the same ones used on the 2000-2001 USDM Rs. The earlier USDM Rs used a 1996 JDM spec valve spring.
I haven't seen any spring test data to support the claim that the newer (JDM) springs are stiffer then the old ones. My gut tells me they are but I would still like to see some proof. ANYONE?

I posed this question a couple weeks ago and know one responded.
