fmu vs others
ok everyone and they're moms telling me NO! to fmu, missing link, and in tank fuel pump. is the fmu set up that bad? is it a 100% gaurantee that my car will mess up running on that setup? im gonna turbo my d16y7....and run only 6 psi. no more than that. i know its better to run something other than fmu, such as uberdata, crome, or hondata...but i just wanna go with the fmu setup for some odd reason. my bro is running fmu on his jrsc gsr at 6 psi....for over 2 years now and has not had a single problem related to that. what are all your thoughts?
Basically you will just gain more power and have a better/safer tune with hondata, uberdata, etc. You can use the FMU, and probably run fine, but you will be lacking alot of power (from ignition tuning) and it's simply "safer" to run with an EMS.
fmu's are good for anything under 10psi. They are made to run real rich in boost so you dont dedonate. I ran an fmu for a year now and my car ran smoother with it then my afc and bigger injectors. I'm just gonna chip my ecu with uberdata or chrome and then i'll get alot more power and smoother powerband.

IMO, i'd think u'd make more @ the same boost on the fmu. u run way more timing with that setup and the rich conditions keep it from detonating. the hack is crap, dont mention it here, that equals too much timing advance rolling into boost,then u start to get detonation. the peeps i know had to drive their afc hacked cars a certain way to keep it from detonating, thats not a problem on a fmu setup.
this is all good to hear. yeah, i dont plan on going over 6 psi for a long time. i'll probably run the fmu for a while and then maybe later, i will get a new ecu and chip it for uberdata or something else. would i be fine with the vortech 12:1 fmu, missing link, and walbro 255 high pressure intank pump?...on my stock d16y7 injectors...

Once you start to get over 6psi with a 12:1 FMU, the fuel pressure really starts to get high. 6psi and lower, is fine with a FMU, and good gas.
You could bump up the fuel injector's one size, then lower the base fuel pressure, and use an adjustable FMU and run a bit more boost, but just keep in mind FMU's dont lower ignition timing.

so when i run the fmu setup....what do i need to do with my timing. its a stock d16y7 and im gonna be running 6 psi. do i need to change my spark plugs too..correct?
Depends on how crappy your gas is. For exsample, If you run 93 or better octane you could probly run stock timing with 6psi and not knock. Or if your running 86 you'd probly have to pull a few degree's. Colder spark plug's is a really good idea.
