I ran a FMU for about a day and after seeing the wideband reading's i shelled the cash out for a dyno tune. Later down the road started running ectune with a ostrich. FMU= f**ks motors up!

i definently agree that fmu = f@#$ motors up lol

just get a chipped ecu and run a basemap for the time being... thats your best bet unless you can get a tune soon

if you can find a basemap or have someone make one dor you that would be 10x better than an fmu

your safer running a basemap then running an fmu LOL but that doesnt mean run the car on a basemap. plenty of street tuners out there that get the job done cheap or for a few bucks more get a decent tune. Im located in CT if you need a tune

FMU's work great... when they're sitting in the bottom of a trash can.

i agree w/ all the above... but if you're limited on resources and the FMU is in your hand and need the car to run... it is relatively safe if you're running a proper ratio FMU on lets say 5-7psi. Maybe a decade or so ago i ran a simple drag III kit w/ an FMU on about 7-9psi daily for over a year w/ absolutely no issues. Stock b16 making a measily 260whp but hey it didnt blow. i sold the kit to do something else later, but i had no issues. I wouldnt use it for anything more than that though...

Yea FMU's are a thing of the past BUT they do get the job done. I am running one on my DD until I can get the money for an EMS. Its gonna be a couple months. I have a 99 civic ex w/ d16y8, Mini Ramhorn mani, Precision SC34 .48 a/r, Vortech FMU, Walbro 255HP, Missing link, etc. Running 7-8lbs boost...I think wastegate spring is 7.25lbs. It runs great. Haven't really got on it real hard but it pulls hard as **** and does what I need it to do. Just really want to get the EMS hooked up so I can fine tune it then turn the boost on up. But for now I will run with the FMU and things are going smooth.

I ran a FMU on two cars, one ran 11's on a stock B16 in a daily driven Civic. If done right and on 5 psi, you should be fine for the time being. There are much better options out there but it can be done.
