I am contemplating building my block. It is a B18C1 w/ Drag III kit on it. I would like to boost upwards of 20 lbs. Any recommendations on places to get the block built, how much it will cost including labor, and lastly; parts to use.

All input will be greatly appreciated.

 

Building a block to handle 20psi of boost.

Get it resleeved from Golden Eagle.(~$1,200)
Endyn Pistons (~$487)
Eagle Rods (~$365)

Have a good fuel management system.

bigger injectors-RC or Venom (720CC) (~$650)
Bigger fuel pump- (Welden ~$800, Aeromotive ~$250)
Standalone ecu -AEM PnP EMS$1400, Haltech(E6K) $1,400, DFI ~$800- ~$1,700, Hondata, SpeedPro, etc. (choose the the one your tuner is most comfortable with)


You should be kicking some a$$ with that setup. However I'm sure you will see that there are cheaper alternatives.

hehe... I thought I did too... The guy backed out on the deal. It sucks too, because I had a dozen or so other people who were interested and I waited for this guy... stupid me. Oh well, his loss! I think I am just going to keep the car and build the motor.

 

How much is the labor ~ ?

Do you send the block off to get this done... or order a built block and exchange your core?

 

Either way. However I would request your own block back. You can send your block to them and have them resleeve your block and send it back, Or you can do a core exchange.

 

Also you forget about the little things...

oem bearings $240 (that's with the hook up)
bore & hone engine to pistons $100
hand wash motor $85
assembly $500
headgasket $80
intake manifold gasket $15
ex man gasket $15
balance crank mic n chamfered $150

if your motor has over 35,000 miles also
new timing belt
new tensioner
new main seal

pretty dang expensive! and thats for a pretty basic build up not getting fancy.

 

overall expect to pay 3000 for everything to do complete overhaul with sleeves new pistons rods all the labor etc. If yuo need any thing done just give me shout or send me some email. I can help you out with anything.
