help! no spark on a cx
I was driving the other day and came upon a yellow light. I accelerate it since I was already close to the intersection, but during the intersection my car dies and and wouldn't start back up, so I roll to the side and park. I wait a few minutes and try to start it, but it still wont start, so i tow it to a shop. At the shop, i check all the fuses, test if the engine turns and it does, then i check for spark by plugging a spark plug to a wire and and grounding it. there was no spark.
heres the problem: Since i also have a 1993 del sol, i swap distributors from the delsol to the eg. after swapping the distributor, the car ran for 5 minutes, so i decide to reverse it out of the garage. While i was reversing, the car dies once again. After the car dies, i check for spark and there was no spark again. Since the shop was about to close and i need to get back to my house, i switch the distributors once again, but after switching the distributors i find that the distributor was not working. SO NOW BOTH DISTRIBUTORS, off my eg and del sol, ARE NOT WORKING. Since both distributors dont work did i blow the coil or igniter?? what is the most likely cause. Now i am stuck with 2 cars not running, and it is a big inconvenience. I need some help, thanks.
oh yea i forgot to mention that my valve cover is leaking some oil and it would drip on the distributor, and some of the sensors beneath the distributor. The oil did not drip on the distributor connectors, but on the body of distributor where it bolts to the motor. Would this cause this problem??

sounds like an electrical problem in your civic to me because after swapping distrubtor, both dizzies went bad. i'm afraid putting a new dizzy on the motor will cause it to maybe fry again. check your dizzy and see if anything was fried.
since your motor was turning, the starter's ok, so you won't have to mess with that. i can't think of any solution at the moment though.

sounds electrical, if you are ruining distributors after you put a working one in. Buying a brand new one would do nothing but waste your money at this time. You need to search and check for the fuses, to see if it is getting to much power and maybe frying or so on.
doubt it is the igniter because i replaced the distributor with a working one, and it blew the distributor. i dont want to replace anything pricey on the car because it might just blow again when i start the car. i will have to look more in depth to this situation. anyone else have a problem similar to mine that wasnt the distributor itself??
