My car wont start, does anyone know what to do??
My car wont start. It started when I first heard noises in the distributor. After that it became real hard for my car to accelerate then it died. I replaced my distributor, the rotor within the distributor and the spark plugs and it still will not start. Does anyone know what to do??!?!?
See if ur crank turns freely; also put it to TDC and check ur cam gears if they line up perfectly (TDC)....just in case ur timing jumped. BTW, will the car crank or nothing at all?
What car?
Does your CEL go off after 2 seconds?
If NO, check ALL fuses, and make sure main relay and ECU is good.
If YES, verify you are getting spark and fuel. and also make sure ALL grounds are on.
To check spark, take out the spark plug wire and a spark plug. Put the spark plug into the spark plug wire, then put the spark plug about 1-2 mm from the front radiator support (or a known good ground).
Have a friend crank over the motor and see if you have any spark at all.
If NO, then trouble shoot the distributor. Let us know what the deal is by posting in here.
If YES, then check for fuel by seeing if you have any pressure in the fuel lines. Put the KEY onto the ON switch, and listen to see if the fuel pump turns on.
If it does, you are getting fuel. If it does NOT turn on then post up.
Keep us posted yo.
Good luck.

I replaced the distributor with a refurbished one, could it still be the ignition control module? where is the program-fi relay? thanks for your time
I tried putting it TDC but it still wont start....The crank does turn freely as well...Jus to double check, can I put a long screw driver in spark plug socket number 1 and turn the crank until the screw driver is at its highest point, then will that be TDC? I tried lining up the cams, but I found it to be difficult and was told I could jus stick the screw driver in spark plug socket number 1. thank you for your time, i dont know if this will be of any more help but i have a 1993 acura integra, 1.8 ls

I replaced the distributor, the rotor in the distributor, the fuse for the battery and the spark plugs...there is no spark....what can i do, thanks for your time
it is a 1993 acura integra, 1.8 ls. what is the CEL? if it helps, i replaced a fuse for the battery. my friend had told me there was no spark from what he heard and saw....ill try to do what you posted me to do, but if there is anything else, please let me know...thanks for the reply and your time... by the way, what do you mean by trouble shoot..thanks again
No spark.
Your main relay is turning on (being your CEL (check engine light) turns off after 2 seconds) correct?
If it does turn off after 2 seconds with the key in the ON position, then start tracing back to the distributor by replacing plugs (making sure they are not siezed), wires, then cap/rotor, then coil, then ignitor unit.

The CEL stays on and does not turn off after 2 seconds? could it be that i installed the distributor wrong? Thanks for the feedbacks, its greatly appreciated.

Does it have any codes stored?

wasup dude....it turns out that there is spark but i have to put it next to the ground instead of 1-2mms...when i turn the key to on position i can clearly hear the fuel pump turn on..any suggestions?!?

The spark should jump more than 1 or 2mm. Have you checked your grounds and coil.

Hmm, check your grounds. Sounds like it's faulty grounding.
The engine cranks correct?
If the engine cranks, then check the thermostat ground.

ive checked it and everything seems fine....ill go ahead and double check it though, most likely it may be faulty wiring.....by any chance could it be that i hooked up the firing order for the spark plug wires wrong on the distributor?! would you happend to know the firing order for the spark plug wires on the distributor? i know on the valve head its numbered 1,2,3,4 starting from the spark plug socket next to the sprockets...but im not so sure about the distributor firing order..
hmMMm, ill go ahead and double check then cause its probably faulty grounding....i think the engine cranks correctly...its making all the right sounds, it jus wont start.... ill get back to you though..thanks
dude it sounds like people are giving you info. that 's lead you to a dead end.
okay, you had a bad distributor to being with - if there is a code i bet it is a tdc, cyp, or ckp. most honda distributor failure is due to bearing. some times it damages the sensor inside. however, if you got spark - would highly recommend checking your crack to cam timing - i have seen integra jump timing - it this is correct - make that cylinder are not flooded - if so, remove all plugs and blow them dry - this disconnect the injector connectors and than crank the car a few time to blow out fuel from the cylinders - then reinstall plugs and connectors to the injectors.
now, make sure that you crank to cam timing correct - for, if your time is of by 1-2 teeth it will inject too much fuel making it hard to ignite it.
also, if your using a rebuild distributor or an after market one that maybe your problem as well. however, the only to verify this is by using a engine lap scope and know how normal pattern looks like or replace it will an honda o.e distributor.
for get about ground faults that's not your problem you'll just end up chasing you tail.....
the only person that made any sense it the person that told you to check your crank ot cam timing.
like i said your distributor failed, you replaced it, got spark, now just make sure that your belt did not jump on you. don't go chasing a bad ground you ecu did not fail on you - it's your distributor - it's not a bad ground that caused your motor to stop running - it's your distributor -
like i said check your crank to cam timing, make sure the motor is not flooded, and if your using a rebuild or an aftermarket distributor - i would recommend returning it and buying a honda oe part.
