my car is running rich

I did replace a universal o2 sensors, I've installed 2.25 cat-back exhaust, and some internal work like piston, retainer, port and polish the head . I keep thinking that I need to move my exhaust out a little bit more away from the rear bumper, but I am not sure if that is the problem.

you've had internal work done, it's running rich, and you're think you can fix it by pulling ur exhaust away from your bumper???
have you ever had this thing tuned? btw, what kind of car is it? LS? GSR? DA? DC?

o2 sensor must be at the end of the tailpipe and the bumper contains fuel, that will definately make is seem rich

There is NO O2 sensor near the TB. Yes the the O2 sensor is after the header. If its an OBD1(92-95)car it will have 1 O2 sensor and ifs its a OBD2 (96 up) car it will have 2 O2 sensors.
you did internal work and other modifications and didn't tune your car?!
You haven't really provided us with very much information. Have you tried to test any of the variables? Check the map sensor voltage, check for leaks as said before, check the O2 sensor. Did you try resetting your ECU? If anything it sounds like you probably just need to get something tunable like a fuel pressure regulator or a safc and get your car tuned. Most to all cars come running a little rich from the factory, and for you to go and do quite a bit of work (it sounds like) to your car and not get it tuned, you have no idea what your car is running like.

basically what happen is I have black smoke on my rear bumper because I have my exhaust too close to the bumper. That is why I thought if I pull it out alittle bit, then it'll help. I think it's just regular smoke coming out of the exhaust, not that my car is running rich. I just assume that it is. Appreciate all the opinion yall have.
ur o2 sensor is at the complete other end of ur exhaust and reads from in most cases b4 the cat, where the exhaust exits doesnt change wat ur o2 sensor will read.

he wasn't saying that pulling the muffler out would help with any O2 sensor related issues, he was saying he just wants to pull the muffler out so that the exhaust gasses aren't going striaght up onto the bumper when he's idling.

pulling your exhaust out by the bumper will only increase the compressionatorial bumbazziler valve adjustment. Not to be offset by the piston return springs logarithmic value................yeh.
