Anyone a pro at putting the timing belt on?? Got a couple Q's
Im putting a timing belt on a 93 Prelude and I cant find a Prelude manual anywhere. My questins are:
The crankshaft gear has a little hole on the side, is this what you use to set in front of the arrow cause theres no line?
And second I have a STR adjustable cam gear and theres 3 grooves on the outside. Im guessing the 2 across from each other line up with the head and the one on top of course goes up? But not sure and I dont want to start the car and be wrong.

I think you are right about the hole.
a way to verify it is to put it there, and then look through the little timing window @ the flywheel and see if its at the TDC mark.
as far as the gears go, it has nothing to do with the cam gear. The cams have small holes on them when viewed from above (on the gear side). The hole lines up with a hole in the last cap.

Hmm, Ive never used the flywheel for that, where would the mark be on the flywheel?
And is here a way to see if the cams are lined up at TDC too without the gears?

Yes, as long as you are talking about the hole on the lower timing gear, line that up.
The easiest thing to do when doing your belt to make sure it goes back on correctly is to mark the belt with a line and run that line over to touch the cam gear/balancer or whatever, then transfer those lines over to the new timing belt and match the lines back up to the mark on the cam gear/balancer or whatever when you reinstall.

ok, i see in the top rail on each cam near the gear side there is 2 holes near each other. One on each cam has a hole on the actual cam directly under the rail. But the holes in each cam are not across from each other, is that right? Is that TDC? Sorry I have done timing belts on sohc and dohc but not a Prelude.

TDC on the cams has both arrows facing up and the lines on the edges of the gears facing each other like this picture.
