Default Timing question

I have a 87 CRX Si thats been converted to OBD0 and I forgot to run the wire to jump the dizzy to set base timing. On my tuboedit ignition map I am at 21 degrees of idle at 500-1000rpm from anywhere at 20in hg to 22in hg
So my question IS
Can I let my motor idle and set the timing to 21 degrees with the timing gun without jumping the dizzy?

Default Re: Timing question (CRXdan)

No. The electronic control is analogous to the "vaccum advance" on old distributors. If you don't disconnect it your timing will be jacked.

OK lets try it a diferent way. I have a 90 civic si running turboedit and I want to set the timing. I am too lazy to jump the dizzy and my turboedit ignition map reads 21 deg advance at idle from 500-1000rpm at 22in HG.
Can i just set the timing to 21deg advance with the timing light without jumping the dizzy?

This has NOTHING to do with vac advance distributors. The motor is a 89 d16a1
