CEL #14 - IACV... need help so I can tune my car!
Well I have a check engine light as title states. It is #14 which is the Idle Air Control Valve. At the time I had some stuff capped off and some not. It was brough to my attention I had some coolant getting blocked up.
SO, just to eliminate variables, I replaced the IACV and made sure the coolant lines bypassed the throttle body altogether (going straight from water jacket to intake manifold).
To eliminate more variable I took off the 3 bolt contraption on the bottom of the throttle body and cleaned it out to make sure it couldn't be the cause of anything.
Put everything back together, Still got a CEL, and makes the huh huh...huh huh noise like a vacuum leak or something but does it when you barely touch the gas OR after you have driven for a few minutes.
This supposedly is screwing with my fuel maps and I need to get my car tuned as this is basically a new motor, so any help would be appreciate. Thanks in advance.

did you check for bubbles in the cooling system, how about trying to ajust the idle, on my lude if the idle is too high or too low it will do the same thing, and also check for vaccuum leaks
Yes this is a new motor. I do not have any vacuum leaks. How exactly do you remove bubbles in cooling system besides just leaving the cap off and squeezing the hose. But still you really think that would throw a code.
My car is a 95 teg LS. Just swap a b16a with a gsr head

to bleed the cooling system...leave the rad cap off and top off the radiator. run the car until it gets warm and let the car run until the thermostat opens..then once that happens...youll see the rest of the coolant get sucked into the motor....keep filling it until it gets topped off..then close the cap and youre golden.

Yea well i always do that, I just consider that common place. But either way that would not cause a CEL #14.
Today I tried straight wiring that plug to the ecu and it still didn't work which would lead me to believe that the IACV is bad, but I replaced it with what was supposed to be a working one so I dunno.

Replaced it with another working IACV... sitll no luck. This has to have happened to someone.
The engine will pulsate right around 1500 rpms.
My O2 also is not working but this shouldn't effect it.

the IAC uses coolant to operate, if you have air bubbles in it, which is does sit fairly high compared to the rest of the cooling system, it will cause an irradic idle. Just block the bitch off, tune the TB for idle, keep the IAC plugged in, and have fun on cold starts!
Those things **** me off, my car doesnt have one.

Yup, well I didn't do that but I checked it and it was screwed all the way in. I had the same the happen on my type r motor.
I am fixing to go take my HONDA Service Manual and go through its diagnostic steps. Hopefully I can figure it out!

Sup dood i had the same problem a few days ago also. Like the other guy said plug the IACV off. When you bypassed the IACV there is no more coolant running through the vavle so it can't heat up. So the only way the car can run correctly is by making a plate and placing that in between the IACV and throttle body so that no air can pass through the front of the throttle body letting air into the IACV and back into the throttle body behind the throttle body plate. If you know what i'm talkin about then this should help you out, i'm not sure if it will take off your CEL, but it should fix that idle problem. If you don't understand let me know I can explain it to you later.
THANK YOU! Finally the answer I am looking for. Well if it fixes it thats great, but I still wanna get rid of the cel.
Question: did you have a CEL before you blocked it off, or did it just idle crappy with it bypassed buy not blocked off.
Also what did you use to block it off?
