Civic HatchBack Engine swap Help
ok, i seem to not be able to get a good clear answer out of anyone so here it goes again. I am getting a 92-95 civic hb and i am going to want to do a swap on it, ok. I have a B18B1 out of a 94 Integra Ls, this is a WHOLE MOTOR, I am going to use this motor as the swap. i need to know if this engine will bolt up to the civic hb transmission, which i beleive is a "d" series trans. So basically i need to know all the other things i will need to do it. ECU, trans? wiring? and everything else.
THANKS
THANKS
no....you need a B series tranny....
im me...i have one for sale in charleston sc....
you could pick it up on saturday, we are having a meet that day

-Motor, Hydraulic Tranny (Y80, S80), ECU (P75), Axles, Shift Linkage, Stock Motor Mounts, Alternator, Starter, Clutch, Flywheel, Intake Manifold, Exhaust Manifold, Fuel Rail,
Injectors, Distributor, Engine Harness, and the sensors. These are all of the things you need. There may be a few additional parts, like if you want to keep an a/c you have to get a 94-95 del sol vtec a/c bracket. youll probably want to do a major tune up on it, including timing belt and all that good stuff. Pretty much all the mechanical parts in the civic wont work..there are a few right ups about this im sure... so you may wanna do a search

Ok, how much do you want for it?? Is it a 5 speed ? what car did it come out of, and does it shift perfect with no grinds or flaws? I am interested if the price is good and its a nice trans. Please write back in and let me know, im only in macon GA. i could come pick it up there. THANKS
You need need everything from the b series. You can use the rear civic mount though. So
b series motor, tranny, shift linkage, ecu, and mounts.
I wouldnt buy a b16 or gsr. waste of money. The ls motor is still going to be slow. if you want more power after the ls swap. throw on a small homemade turbo kit. then you are good to go!

Ok, what i need to know is, which transmission has the closest ratio gears cause my prelude has the short ratio trans and i love it. If i do put a b16 or Gs-r trans in it, will i need all the axles and stuff for the new trans like b16 parts or do i use all B18B1 stuff? I want the car to have a close ratio trans, i hate stretched out gears.
Thanks
Thanks

Ok, first of all, if a civic HB (EG) has a sohc 1.5 w/ 70-90hp estimation. So if I put a B18B1 DOHC 1.8 in it it's still going to be slow??? I just dont see that being true becasue i know the b18 has a lot more hp that the d15. help me out, im not trying to prove you wrong it's just i really think the b18 will make it scoot pretty good cause them civic hb's are light as hell.

Aight son, after all this help from these nice guys and you still dont get it? IMO give it up, leave it for the big boys. Or you can push a single cam to its limits, get smoked all the time, and then maybe you that will really motivate you to research and pursue this project.
Im pretty new here, and already im sick of your whining, dawg.

ok if this spawns more questions... then ask someone else..
this is what you need for your motor swap.
Motor
- Hydraulic Tranny (Y80, S80)
- ECU (P75)
- Axles
- Shift Linkage
- Stock Motor Mounts from an integra
- Alternator
- Starter
- Clutch
- Flywheel
- Intake Manifold
- Exhaust Manifold
- Fuel Rail
- Injectors
- Distributor
- Engine Harness
Yes, the gsr and b16 have tight gear ratios, and the axles you need from them are no differant than any other b series engine. No you cannot use the axles found on the civic.
An LS swapped civic is good for mid-high 14 to low-mid 15 quarter miles. It depends on the driver, tires, climate, elevation etc.. If you think thats slow then its slow, if you think thats fast, then its fast. its called relativity. whats fast to some isnt fast for many, and whats slow to some isnt slow for everyone.

I told him what all he needed for the swap on the third post.. did he just not read it? does he not want help or something... geez.. With the B18B engine your car will be a lot faster than it is with that crappy d15 piece of ****.

Thanks, i was just getting more than one answer thats all. Some one said that the b18 would be slow also and thats why i replied at him and said that it would definately be a lot faster. Anyway, I am having no luck with selling my 89 prelude si 4ws, im asking 2000 for it cause its somewhat hopped up. And i need the cash to buy a hatchback.
