hi, i searched and couldn't find anything so i find myself here.

i'm somewhat new to all of this so excuse me if i sound stupid.

i have a 94 rs w. a b16a sir ii swap, whenever i get around the 4/5k rpm range you here the vtec pop i believe and then soon after an engine light comes on. i'm running a p30 ecu which i'm told is obd1 and i'm not sure how to check it. my friend suggested a stick a paper clip in the open circuit where the green/brown wire is then turn the car 2 clicks and the engine light should blick with the code, however the engine light only comes on and goes off as normal if i'm doing it correctly as i believe i am.

any advice?

im gonna take a shot in the dark and say either vtec oil pressure sensor or O2 sensor.

 

are either of those costly to fix? i'm on a tight budget as of right now..
