Just wanna mate my sohc SRP pistons to my Eagle rods, Just wonderring if any directional **** make a difference, I dont see any difference at all in the valve reliefs for the intake/exhaust so I dont see why it would



And about the sprial locks, anything secial about installing them as well?

The bigger reliefs on the pistons need to be on the intake side. Also the tangs for the rods should be on the exhaust side.

These rods are used and the used bearings I left in there just to prtoect the surface

So the side of the rod where the bearings have 2 notches, the exhaust reliefs should be on that side aswell, okie dokie

 

alright now how the hell do I put in these spiral locks... dont need a special tool do i?

 

install one of the lock on the piston by putting one end of the lock in the groove of the piston and press it in with your finger (use oil to make the installation easier) then line up the rod and the piston hole and insert the floating pin (only use the pins that comes with the piston) then install the second lock the same way you did the first... assembling aftermarket piston and rods are easy because you dont need any press to do it just a pair of hands.

 

when i did mines i did this:

look at the big valve releifs, those are intake, make a mark on th4e piston with a majic marker so u know how they go
compare the bearing notches on the rods to the stock rods notches, and also mark the rods as how they should go in...

i got the pistons warmed a lil bit on a small electric stove
and i put the wrist pins on the freezer for 15 minutes

i mate them togheter

and as far as getting the clips in there, open them up al il with ur nail, put one end, and using ur finger or a very small screwdriver, work the clip in , with a circular motion to get ti all in there.. after u do, make sure its secure inside th groove

 

Ya I bought the pistons used so he left one side of the clip in on every piston so I just knocked out the wrist pins out and got the rods and pins all installed back together but I tried the ******* clips putting them back in and I gave up after putting a little kink in one, maybe Ill try some oil like stated above and when Ive had some sleep

I ended up taking a ******* amazing set of photos at my old hischool at sunrise, came out ******* amazing, I even hopped the curb and parked it in the middle of the student square, gonna be sick pics for sure

Anyways, thanks for the info guys, just gotta be patients with this clips I suppose
