Default mounting rods to pistons

If you look at a rod from any B-series motor (in this case a type-r) there are notches on both sides of the rod, which are necessary to hold the rod bearing.

My question is when i have the wrist pins pressed into the rods is there a certain way that the rods need to face? intake or exhaust, according to the notches? or since they look identical from both sides can they simply be pressed into the piston any way?

Thanks in advance.
