Default External Wastegate Operation... TiAL... some help please

Well, My fully built ZC is just about done, and I dont plan on using my homemade turbo setup with this motor (HF manifold/14b Mistu Turbo).

I just bought a Drag Manifold and a New T3/04e Turbo. Now in the past I have hardly worked with external gates, But I have fucked with a DeltaGate a little bit and was unimpressed. Now everyone says "Tial is the ****" and whatnot.. Now I need to know what Model of Gate do I need to get? will the 35mm Gate be enough for 350hp? Or should I just go straight for the 40mm gate?

Now exactly how is boost changed with these types of gates? Everyone says you can replace the spring inside and put in stiffer springs to increase boost..? Is their a fine tunning adjustment on the gate to let you dial it in properly? how much does it vary? Could you just use a normal boost controller hooked up inline with the gate to raise boost?

(thanks for the help, I really dont know that much about external gates, Just want to do it right the first time)

the spring will be able to regulate boost by itself, its not the best way to go though. Ideally you want a boost controller to keep it all under control, and they become necessary when you want to run more boost than the spring was designed for.

if your going over about 1 bar, then get the 40mm, HKS are all standard with it. Also, with more boost you will need to get a stiffer spring (Even if your running a boost controller). If you try running 20psi on a .3 bar spring, you will get boost surging.

Can you tell me why this would happen?

hks is just a name... their wastegates arent all that imo... fyi... the 46mm tial flows more than the 50mm hks wastegate... not to mention... hks gates are made of steel while tial are stainless... hks has been known for the valve inside the wastegate rusted... sometimes breaking the whole wastegate and sometimes shutting it closed for good... tial is much better than hks... many people will tell u this as well

Thanks for the info...

But I need to know, will the 35mm gate be enough for 350hp? say 15~18psi or should I go through the big hassle of getting the larger 40mm gate and custom fabricate a flange to my drag manifold?
