Not gettin and boost at all...heres my setup........t3/t4 the generic on off of ebay....check my piping and they're all good...but my wastegate stays open...but the turbo still spools...but the BOV does go off at all.....but i can hear the turbo spool........still no boost.....dont have a boost controller but i should still get boost off the stock spring in the wastegate right?.....so anyone with help??

 

if the wastegate stays open then the turbo will spool a little but not enough to generate boost. fix the wastegate

 

does the gate have to completly closed when spooling? or is it suppose to be open sometimes during spooling?

 

If your wastegate is staying open your not going to gain any boost... thus why your bov is not purging. What kinda wastegate is it and have you checked it out yet as to why its not closing?

 

The wastegate will be completely closed allowing boost pressure to climb untill manifold pressure (set by the the spring rate inside the wastegate) forces it to open.

 

dont know the brand, but its mounted on the manifold.....but i dont know why its stayin open....why IS it stayin open?

 

The wastegate is held closed by the spring, the only thing i can think of would be that the spring is damaged in some way or the wastegate has internal damage. Is it stuck open even while the car is not running?

 

i'll check on that....could it be my vac lines?....i have it running to the same line as the fuel regualtor on the inteak manifold

 

Need more info... im assuming you have had the car boosted for sometime and was functioning previously. One thing is that you should have a direct vacuum source for the wastegate for a more accurate reading. Dont tee it off anything else. which port on the wg do you have the vacuum source into?

 

no. never ran the turbo...jus slapped it on last weekend....and the vac is running from the top of the gate (knock off of tial style) but it does close when the car is off, its open during idle and during load.....another thing....im blowing alot of smoke out from the valve cover....should i be worried bout that?

 

Bingo!! Run the vac line to the side port and you should be good to go. Top port is atmospheric

yea ur right....took off the gate.....its bad already...the ring is blown...but how can it go bad already?....its never ran under boost

 

Hmmm, well at least you got the vac lines setup correctly now. Must be internal then, like mentioned a wastegate is one part of a turbo setup that is worth the extra investment. If you can, find a real tial on h-t for cheap.

 

Possibly from having the vac line setup incorrectly, never had it happen before. Those ebay knock off wg have a tendancie to crap out early. Was it brand new?

people run these jippo kits all the time with no issues.. i say there more of a gamble. Ive seen them last forever and others crap in the first week. But i dont recommend them at all. Might as well save the money and spend it on something that will last longer.
