Default help me out with a cost question (d-series)

I'm curious as to how much I should be spending on a d16y8 intake manifold. A local is trying to sell me his auto intake mani for 55$. Is this a bit outrageous or right on target? Any feedback will be appreciatted.

that's an alright price, but if it's not going on a y8 head it will have a vac. leak, if your going to put in on any other head then the y8 you need to cover the little holes above each runner on the itm. or it will leak and the idel will go up and down, I used some silicone and small pice's of thin carboard, it's getto but that **** works lol good luck

I just went to Kragen and bought some plugs. Find out the diameter of the wholes and get some plugs for them.

SOHC4life 96,
What were these plugs made out of? What kind of improvment did you see from the y8 mani over the y7? Thanks.

as far as i know, most d series parts are interchangable. you shouldnt have to plug the holes up with jb welb. i really wouldnt rec. that. btw which motor are you trying to put this on?

d-series parts such as the manifold are interchangeable, at least to the point that the bolts will line up correctly. but if you're trying to put a d16y8 manifold to a non-d16y8 head, it may cause a vac leak as stated already. i had an issue with this before regarding a hondata gasket that was supposedly made for all d16s. however, the 99-00 y8's have (i believe its called) cold-air injection so the manifold is straight across the top, instead of the other d16 manifolds that contour down in between the 2nd and 3rd runners. this is where the leak occurs, because either the manifold or the head isnt covered where it needs to be.

on a side not, i find it kind of funny that hondata didn't acknowledge my issue but now they make their d16 gaskets differently that fit my y8.

yeah I take it you never pot a y8 manifold on any other head lol that's why the intake gasket is diff. from the older models, they don't have that vac. camber on the head (like the y8 head. do some research and come back and talk. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by HXvtec &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">as far as i know, most d series parts are interchangable. you shouldnt have to plug the holes up with jb welb. i really wouldnt rec. that. btw which motor are you trying to put this on?</TD></TR></TABLE>
