did you check your oil? Is it low? Is there anything in the oil? Metal antifreeze? Start with the basics

alot the rings are about 100 bucks

but the labor will get you
b/c of having to pull the whole motor apart

Okay when you say no oil do you mean none on the dipstick? Put a quart of oil in see if it shows up on the dip stick if not then put another one in and so on and so forth. Did you boost hard on it with no oil? Is something leaking that you would have lost your oil?

Do you have an oil pressure guage?

check that and go from there. Hopefully when you put some oil in the knocking will go away. But it must be pretty low if your knocking. On my old car that was stolen I did not check the oil for a while and was 2 quarts low and the motor did not knock. Put some oil in it and it was good to go.

Also try and find out why you are loosing oil. Maybe you are burning it, maybe you have a leak. If you have a leak or if something came loose try and figure out where.
